Fortraveller.net is a social network of active people - all of those who enjoy new places, like to share their finding with others, meet new friends and visit old ones.
We developed various tools (such as photoalbums, personal blogs, search engines, mail to make communication within community simple and straightforward. The data is available for more than 3 million of cities, towns, places and POI's, all of them are associated with geographical position.
Choose a place on the map, name from the list or enter it in the search field and get the data.
if you click on "people" you will get a list of the local fortraveller members and information on whether they are willing invite you to stay in,go for house swapping, join you in your journey and other helpful info.
Clicking on "cities/towns" will provide you with all details about the surroundings of the selected place and distance to it.
POI's is everything interesting or helpful around you - restaurants, hotels, SPA's, amusement parks and attractions, etc. You can add new ones and then send a link to this POI to your friends with a comment (e.g. "here I caught a 2 kg trout"). If you have recently been to many places and collected a lot of photos, here is the best place to store them since they will be linked to a specific journey, place and date. Special image editing tools will help you to improve the picturequality if needed. Moreover, you will know which camera has been used and who else from the community owns the same one.
Tell usnot only about new places you've visited but your own city or town, nobody knows it better than you.
Always start with "anchoring a place", you will surely benefit from this when browsing through thousands of your photos later on.

Every record has its own unique identifier, e.g. for photos it's a code which could be used for reference for other web applications. Green square indicates that the user is currently logged in. The gender could be concluded from the user pictogram.
Nearby you will find the "add to my friends" button, this option is used to restrict access to some of your records which you don't want to share broadly.
The internal email is fast communication tool within this site.
